*Responsibilities: *
- 50% System Administration
- As a second and third level support analyst, ensures availability of global server environments and is responsible for service level attainment.
- In-depth understanding of server fundamentals including kernel subsystems (scheduler, VM, etc), system calls, inter-process communication, process/resource management and file systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP, the OSI Model, firewalls, load balancers and switches.
- Experience with network attached storage devices and RAID. Working knowledge of EMC SAN storage platforms and PowerPath is highly desirable.
- A through understanding of platform specific server virtualization technologies such as VMWare, Xen, PowerVM, and Integrity Virtual machine.
- Responsible for service level attainment and resolution of systems issues to ensure availability and performance goals are met.
- Install and configure server hardware and operating systems in accordance with established Global Standards.
- Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves basic to complex hardware and operating system issues.
- Monitors system and security logs to ensure secure and healthy system environments using system automation and monitoring tools that maximize work efficiency. Fine tunes operating system hardware and software to optimize performance.
- Conducts regular hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Protects Lawson’s information assets by ensuring successful server and backup and recovery functions.
- Documents and maintains operational processes and policies. Develops and maintains comprehensive operating system hardware and software support documentation.
- Identifies and recommends technology enhancements and process improvements that increase operational effectiveness.
- Actively participates in global technology meetings in support of the virtual matrix organization.
- Possesses a solid understanding of the ITIL and associated problem, Incident, and Change management methodologies.
- Works across functional teams and with external vendors to resolve equipment and application problems.
- Maintains an understanding of industry trends and emerging server technologies.
- Actively participates with the global technology organization in support of the virtual matrix organization.

- Participates and manages technology projects and internal improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Provides senior level technical subject matter expertise in support of infrastructure projects.
- Identifies deficiencies in assigned infrastructure and recommends technology solutions to the Global Technology Architect that increase overall operational efficiency and accomplish ITS goals.
- Continuously develops technical skills inside and outside of assigned core technologies including methodologies available to provide optimal solutions.
- Works to promote positive teamwork and build relationships among team members and across departmental teams.
- Provide technical mentoring/coaching to team members. Presents technical topics to global team members as appropriate.

- Works with management in assessing and interviewing qualified candidates.
- Monitors infrastructure using approved tools and methods; provide recommendations that result in operational improvements.
- Regularly creates and submits reports covering accomplishments, issues, metrics, and technology changes.
- Provide reporting of system usage, capacity, and availability to management and users.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 4 years of system administration experience.
- 6-8 years of information technology administration experience
- Advanced performance and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to verbally present complex concepts and technical information to a non-technical audience in a clear and concise manner.
- Advanced scripting abilities (Kornshell, bash, Perl, etc).
